At last! I've been looking for Johnny Western's "The Gunfighter" album since - and finally I found it, as part of Disc 1 of "Heroes and Cowboys". Western, best known for his greatest (and only) hit, "The Ballad of Paladin," has a rolling baritone that suits the cowboy-song genre, and most of the cuts from "Gunfighter" are very well done/5(11).

Johnny Western. Heroes And Cowboys "He sounds like a cowboy looks." This is as good as it gets for Johnny Western fans. And, in the absence of a single disc collection from Columbia or Rhino, it's also the only route to go to get any Johnny Western material other than "The Ballad of Paladin." The three-CD set with minutes of music, which retails for a whopping $85, has everything that Western recorded from for JOCO up through his '70s sides for House 9/

Great set of Johnny Western songs of cowboys, the west, and movie and TV shows. Beautifully packaged by the Bear Family, it comes in an LP sized square box, about 1-inch thick with a thick booklet of liner notes, and the 3 CDs safely encased in the plastic box liner/5(10).

Until I purchased this album, I had only heard Johnny Western perform the closing theme from the TV series Have Gun-Will Travel and The Gunfighter. This 3-cd albums contains 3 separate versions of HG-WT theme on 1 cd and a repeat of one version on another cd. It also includes an extended version of the title song from John Wayne's The Searchers/5(9).
